How to Get the Most Out of Your Apawthecary Co. Products
Everything we make is handcrafted in small batches with clean, thoughtful ingredients. Each product type benefits from a little extra care. Below is how to keep your candles burning beautifully, your soaps lasting longer, your balms and oils fresh, and your pup’s treats stored safely.
Candle Care
Our candles are made with a clean-burning coconut–soy wax blend and cotton wicks.
Before Lighting
Trim the wick to about ¼ inch before every burn
Place the candle on a heat-safe, level surface
Keep away from fans, vents, and drafts to prevent tunneling
Ensure candles are out of reach of children and pets
During Each Burn
Allow wax to melt fully to the edges during the first few burns
Do not burn longer than 3–4 hours at a time
Keep the wax pool free of debris
After Your Burn
Extinguish with a snuffer or gently cover with the lid to reduce smoke
Allow candle to cool completely before handling
Stop burning when about ½ inch of wax remains
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place
Avoid direct sunlight or high heat to prevent discoloration or scent fading
Soap Care
Cold-process soaps last longest when they can dry properly between uses.
To Maximize Longevity
Use a draining soap dish
Keep bars out of direct water streams
Allow bars to dry fully between uses
Store unused bars in a cool, dry place with airflow
About Curing
Our soaps are cured for 4–6 weeks to ensure hardness, longevity, and a creamy lather.
If a bar feels slightly softer on arrival, it may continue to harden over the next few days — this is normal.
Balms and Oils Care
Our balms and body oils are formulated with plant-based oils and butters that naturally respond to temperature.
Care Tips
Store at room temperature when possible
If a balm softens or melts, allow it to cool and firm back up before use
Use clean, dry hands or a clean scoop to preserve freshness
Freshness
Balms and oils are best when used within a reasonable timeframe and stored properly.
If the scent or texture changes in a way that feels unusual, discontinue use.
Pet Treat Care
Our treats are made in small batches using simple, pet-safe ingredients with no fillers or artificial additives.
Storage
Store in an airtight container or sealed bag
Keep at room temperature away from heat or sunlight
Refrigeration can help maintain freshness for softer treats
Freshness
Our treats are made to order and, when stored properly, are safe for dogs for at least six months.
Minor texture changes over time are normal due to the absence of artificial preservatives.
Safety
Always supervise pets when offering treats
Review ingredient lists for known allergies
Treats complement meals and are not meal replacements
Not intended for human consumption
Heat, Cold, and Seasonal Changes
Because our products use natural ingredients, small shifts in appearance or texture are normal:
Candles may soften in warm environments
Balms may melt in heat or firm up in cold
Soaps may develop light surface moisture from humidity
Treats may firm up or soften depending on climate
These changes do not affect quality when products are stored and used as directed.
